In our third year online, we had once again ten artworks of the month, some a little bit older, some brand-new. Even though Bolognese exhibitions were on focus, we had the occasion to visit some exhibitions and art fairs outside the city. Moreover, we went to the Venice Biennale, the Florence Biennale and the Bolognese Biennale Foto\/Industria.<\/p>\n

January<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Starting the New Year with a \u201cWork Break\u201d, we glanced into a time before the Internet and all the electronic devices entered in our common life. Barbara M\u00fcller-Kageler<\/a><\/span>\u2019s painting from 1974 expresses a feeling of tranquillity that is nowadays mostly lost.<\/p>\n

February<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Even though Donatella Lombardo<\/a><\/span>\u2019s \u201cPartitura n.1\u201d was created in 2016, the artwork of February referred to medieval music by Hildegard von Bingen and traditional textile handicraft.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the Bolognese Art week catapulted us directly into the presence. We visited the Arte Fiera (here and there) and the SetUp Contemporary Art Fair.<\/p>\n

After an involuntary break in March, we went again a little bit back in time by Gloria Li Mir<\/span><\/a>\u2019s painting \u201cAcylique bleu \u00e9meraude\u201d from 1986.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Milan art fair, miart 2017<\/span><\/a> underlined its anchoring between modern and contemporary art.<\/p>\n

In the Bolognese gallery Spazio Testoni, Paolo Ghilardi abandoned the canvas with his paintings and the \u201cArchivio Paolo Ghilardi e Alberto Zilocchi\u201d in Milan reunited with Ghilardi, Marcello Morandi and Alberto Zilocchi three artists from the international workgroup for constructive art<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In Bologna opened the Palazzo Pallavicini<\/a><\/span> to the public: a hidden germ of neo classicism with an eventful history.<\/p>\n

By the retrospective catalogue about L\u2019orMa<\/span><\/a>\u2019s oeuvre, we went on the research of the surprising beauty in the various work of this young emerging artist.<\/p>\n

Three national participations of the Venice Biennale<\/a><\/span> considered space: the British Pavilion with \u201cfolly\u201d by Phyllida Barlow, the Greek Pavilion with the \u201cLaboratory of Dilemmas\u201d by George Drivas and the Argentinian Pavilion with \u201cThe Horse Problem\u201d by Claudia Fontes.<\/p>\n

Besides the main exhibition and the national pavilions in the Giardini and the Arsenale at the 57. Venice Biennale, there were many exhibitions throughout the city. We visited<\/span><\/a> Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Estonia, Bolivia, Ivory Coast and Guatemala.<\/p>\n

Katia Miranda<\/span><\/a> loves plastic bags and showcases them in an unexpected way.<\/p>\n

Just before the Venice Biennale<\/a><\/span> closed, we revisited the Pavilions of Italy, Canada and Australia, which dealt all – in one or the another sense \u2013 with water, reflexions and histories.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s Bolognese Biennale Foto\/Industria<\/a><\/span> had 14 exhibitions, focussing on art, technology and innovation. The shows of Alexander Rodchenko<\/span><\/a>, Lee Friedlander<\/a><\/span> and Mimmo Jodice<\/a><\/span> showed working people in different times and with a different artistic view. Josef Koudelka<\/a><\/span>\u2019s photos impressively illustrated the impact of industrialisation on our landscapes.<\/p>\n

Matching the season, V\u00e9ronique Champollion<\/a><\/span> offered a Madonna with Child as artwork of the month.<\/p>\n

Just in time, at the end of the commemoration of 100 years of the October Revolution, the Bolognese Museum of Modern Art opened the exhibition \u201cRevolutija: from Chagall to Malevich, from Repin to Kandinsky<\/a><\/span>\u201d.<\/p>\n
