In 2025, we had Artworks of the Month in various techniques and from artists coming from different countries, mainly Europe, but also Australia or with roots in China, Latin America and Africa.<\/p>\n

The focus in our articles was on Bologna, and in particularly on the Art Week in the beginning of the year and the numerous exhibitions after the summer break. However, we also visited one exhibition in Germany and the featured artists in Bologna came from many different countries.<\/p>\n

January<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

For her painting \u201cConversation<\/a><\/span>\u201d, the Australian artist Cally Lotz<\/a><\/span> stopped the time and enabled her protagonists to continue their silent exchange everlasting.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A preliminary program of the Bolognese ART CITY 2025 already started at the end of January.
\nOur preview of 12 exhibitions<\/a><\/span> made some suggestions before the very beginning of the intensive 10 art days.<\/p>\n

Patricia Jacomella Bonola<\/a><\/span> from Switzerland focused with a multi-coloured ball of wool<\/a><\/span> on the problems of fast fashion.<\/p>\n

The Special Program of the ART CITY 2025, was dedicated to the historic Bolognese City Gates<\/a><\/span>, where contemporary artists installed their site-specific works.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Moreover, we presented several of the uncountable venues of the White Night<\/a><\/span>, the culminating happening of the uncountable art activities of the ART CITY program.<\/p>\n

To recall Gloria Li Mir and her oeuvre, we re-republished our very first Artwork of the Month from February 2015<\/a><\/span> by the in February 2025 deceased artist and friend.<\/p>\n

During our reflections on this year’s art fair, ARTE FIERA<\/a><\/span>, there were many works that dealt with light and colours.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Our 100th Artwork of the Month<\/a><\/span> was dedicated to the late Peruvian French artist Gloria Li Mir<\/a><\/span> whose \u201cTabernacle (Self-portrait)\u201d held up a mirror to us.<\/p>\n

With her embroidered men\u2019s shirt<\/a><\/span>, Elyse Galiano<\/a><\/span> from France draws the attention to the ingenious manner antifeminists express their hate against women.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Manuela Vallicelli<\/a><\/span> from Italy invited us to visit a landscape of memories<\/a><\/span>, which has never existed except in her mind or our collective memory.<\/p>\n

Also Poppy De Havilland<\/a><\/span> from England travels into hypothetical surroundings<\/a><\/span> that animate the protagonist to experience their liberty, even though the depicted moment is only the threshold to transformation.<\/p>\n

In the exhibition \u201cSzenerie<\/a><\/span>\u201d at the D\u00fcsseldorf based Kunstraum Pempelforter, Lars Breuer<\/a><\/span>, Hannes Norberg<\/a><\/span> and Thyra Schmidt<\/a><\/span> transformed graphic characters into images with their individual artistic language.<\/p>\n

With a review of our first six ArtworkS of the Month<\/a><\/span> we prepared the summer.<\/p>\n

\u201cRapunzel \u2013 The seeing text<\/a><\/span>\u201d by the London based Chinese artist Wen Wu<\/a><\/span>, reflected on experiences of transitions.<\/p>\n

Valeria Vaccaro<\/a><\/span>\u2019s marble sculpture group \u201cSupermina<\/a><\/span>\u201d refers to the Italian artists childhood and at the same time to the famous Proto-Renaissance artist Giotto.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Additionally to many stands of editors, libraries and specialised galleries, the third edition of the Bologna art book festival \u201cBOoks<\/a><\/span>\u201d presented four sections dedicated to personalities with a special relation to art books.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In autumn, opened numerous new exhibitions in Bologna. They included various techniques from painting to sculptures and installation. At a first tour, we visited 8 shows<\/a><\/span>. Another excursion brought us from Mosaic to the Milky Way<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

November<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Specialised on mosaic, the Romanian Italian Kina Bogdanova<\/a><\/span> created a \u201cTulip Fish<\/a><\/span>\u201d, which refers to a poem by Raymond Carver.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

7 exhibitions<\/a><\/span> focused on painting and \/ or urban spaces and a non-exhibition<\/a><\/span> illustrated art as form of resistance.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

December<\/strong>\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

V\u00e9ronique Champollion<\/a><\/span> from France sounded the bell for Christmas time with her dwarf population<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In his solo exhibition \u201cOf Void and Mystery<\/a><\/span>\u201d the Spanish Artist Alberto Guerrero reflected on transcendental experiences of the human mind.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The subject of this year\u2019s Foto\/Industria<\/a><\/span> by the MAST Foundation featured artists dealing with the subject \u201cHome\u201d and offered diverse perspectives in 11 venues throughout the whole city.<\/p>\n
